Alex Regan is a partner in the Banking & Finance Group of Mallesons Stephen Jaques where he specialises in Islamic finance, and other areas of structured finance.  Alex is admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales, England and to the New York State Bar. Alex joined Mallesons in February 2008, prior to which he was a partner in the Hong Kong office of a major global law firm.  He has been based in Asia since the mid-1990s, and has been involved in a number of ground-breaking Islamic financings across Asia and the Middle East, including the first combined conventional/Islamic financings in Pakistan, Malaysia and Indonesia.  He is a member of the Islamic Finance Working Group of the Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA), and has also been involved in structuring the first Islamic financings in the Australian market.
