Tom Story is a corporate partner in the Sydney office of Allens Arthur Robinson. His practice is principally focussed on mergers and acquisitions and equity capital raisings, with an emphasis on private equity transactions.
Tom has advised on a number of recent private equity transactions including:
• Archer Capital and HabourVest's acquisition of MYOB;
• The Carlyle Group and National Hire Group's acquisition of Coates Hire;
• Macquarie Capital's take private acquisition of the Macquarie Capital Alliance Group;
• Archer Capital's bid for Energy Developments;
• Macquarie Capital's investment in and subsequent IPO of Boart Longyear; and
• Allco Equity Partners and DB Capital Partners acquisition of Baycorp.
Tom lectures in private equity law and regulation to organisations such as the Financial Services Institute of Australia and to postgraduate students at the University of Sydney. He is recognised as a market leading practitioner by Asia Pacific Legal 500 2009/10, Chambers Global Guide 2010 and PLC Which Lawyer? 2010.
Tom will be co-presenting a session entitled "Recent Australian deals and their implications for the future of Australian PE" at the Private Equity Law Masterclass.
